Scarifying and Dethatching

The benefits of dethatching/scarifying are the reduction of built up organic matter on the surface of the lawn allowing it to breathe better, it refreshes the lawn helping it to absorb nutrients and water easier, stops the spongy feeling underfoot and can help alleviate moss levels in your lawn. This is done by "vertimowing", unlike a push mower which works on the horizontal plane with 2-4 blades, this machine works by cutting vertically across your turf. This cuts and strips the undergrowth and thatch out of your lawn. While this is a time consuming, labour intensive job, and it isnt always suitable in every circumstance, it can be one of the most beneficial services you can carry out for the overall health of your lawn. This is a specialised service as if it is carried out incorrectly and/or on the wrong species of turf, it can do severe damage and can even kill your lawn.
